Peer Discussion Tomorrow with Roy Anderson: What will procurement look like in 2020?

March 30th, 2011 · by Justin Fogarty · 8 Comments · best practices

I saw an advance copy of the “Procurement 2020″ report last week..and it’s got some VERY interesting insights and provocative questions from industry leaders. One of the CPOs interviewed for the report is Roy Anderson, former MetLife CPO and current VP of Procurement Services at Metasys Technologies. Roy offered to speak with the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement LinkedIn group member call (that I moderate) about where the field is heading in the next decade.

A couple of topics we’ll cover with Roy:

  • Procurement trends: “Functional procurement is something that should disappear by 2020.”
  • Risk management
  • The rise of social networks (such as our group over over 25k pros in the field) and their impact on collective knowledge

As always, we’ll keep the format very open and collaborative, so bring your questions, answers and insights. Please mark your calendar and help spread the word to your peers!

The only catch….we ask that all participants join the Group and that’s the only place where we post the dial-in details.

Hope you can join us!

Thanks to all who joined the call yesterday! Great discussion on the future of our field.

The replay is posted in the embedded player here:

My apologies to anyone who tried to dial in but couldn’t get a line. We’ve never had a call hit the conference call limits before! I’m working on a way to get more lines so this won’t happen again.

And since many people have reached out to me asking about the upcoming Procurement 2020 webinar Roy is doing, the info and registration for it are here:

Finally, for those interested in receiving the report when it’s available next month, reach out to me directly and I’ll put you on my list. Just drop me an email jfogarty[at]ariba.com or direct message through LinkedIn.

This call was very well publicised and such a great success. Well done. I can not click on the link for the webinar, is it too late to register?

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the call. I suspect the webinar is either full or too late to register. But I’m sure the replay will be posted soon after the session today. Reach out to me directly at jfogarty[at]ariba.com and I’ll get the info to you.

I read about studies that found people with unusual/wierd names just get left out for life. Especially with unpronounceable names. The hiring manager will just move on to the next application rather than risk embarrassing him/herself by mispronouncing an unusual name. On Yahoo Answers girls are always posting “what do you think of my baby’s name?” and without fail it’s some wierd, made-up name or a variant spelling of a common name. I really don’t care a fig what celebrities do. I just feel sorry for the kids of commoners who will grow up stunted by unusual/wierd/made-up names.
