Spend Analysis: Everything You Wanted to Know, But Were Afraid to Ask

March 9th, 2007 · by Tim Minahan · No Comments · Top 5 Supply Strategies, best practices, spend analysis

There’s no avoiding it. Spend analysis is a hot topic. Nearly every recent study on the supply management space – from Aberdeen to AMR to Supply Excellence – puts investments in spend analysis solutions atop the list of CPO priorities.

Key drivers for the heightened demand include continued cost pressures, tougher scrutiny for regulatory and operational compliance, stalled technology programs, and planned ERP standardization initiatives. On the latter point, one supply executive recently went so far as to tell me, “My company is standardizing on [X ERP platform]. If we don’t get our spend cleansed and classified beforehand, we’re doomed.”

Recognizing the problem is the easy part. The greater challenge is determining how best to approach spend analysis improvements. And assessing the right solution for your company.

Some of questions were addressed by industry experts and leading enterprises earlier this year in the first episode of the Top 5 Supply Strategies Webinar Series. (Check out my synopsis of the event here. Or access a free replay here.)

Due to the continued volume of inquiries on this subject, we’ve called out the big guns for a new web seminar:

Beyond Spend Visibility: Turning Data into Action

Scheduled for Wednesday, March 14th at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, the webinar features a powerful lineup of industry experts and supply management veterans:

  • Andrew Bartels, Vice President of Forrester Research, will reveal his latest research into fast-moving spend analysis technology marketplace and best practices.
  • Todd Grunert, Purchasing Manager of Supplies and Services at Abbott Laboratories, will share how this $22.5 billion broad-based healthcare company automated and improved its spend data cleansing, classification, and analysis capabilities. He will also discuss how Abbott turned this new-found spend intelligence into actionable category management plans and business results.

I have the honor of moderating this esteemed panel. With marquee panelists like these, I anticipate huge attendance, so register now to reserve your spot. (You can register for free here.) And be sure to send me questions ahead of time so I can ensure these are addressed by the panelists during the seminar.
