Supply vs. Spend Management: Cease Fire (For Now)

May 15th, 2006 · by Tim Minahan · No Comments · supply management

The brouhaha Jason Busch and I have been waging on the merits of supply management versus spend management has sparked many lively comments. These can be reviewed in the comments sections of previous posts here at Supply Excellence and on Spend Matters. Other industry watchers have chimed in on the debate as well. I have listed these here for easy reference:

  • Former ERP, SRM, and CRM software executive Dave Stephens offers a humorous roasting of both sides of the debate on his own Procurement Central blog.
  • Technology guru Vinnie Merchandani also gets in his two-cents (and jabs) at his Deal Architect blog.

I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with both Dave and Vinnie in previous lives and highly recommend that you tune into their blogs for insightful comments on supply management, business strategy, and technology — all served up with heaping sides of biting wit.

As for me, I am personally calling a cease fire on the debate – ironically to host Jason at the Chicago leg of the Supply Management 2.0 Forum. I’ll be sure to break out the peace pipe! I will also be sure to report fully on the event later this week.
